During this lockdown, I spent some quality time with my cats and thought of making something amazing for them like their house so that they could be found effortlessly. Kittens have a crazy habit to convert any likeable place into their spot of sleeping.
So, I dedicated some of my time to build a cat house for my mellow, moody, bossy, over-pampered and crazy cats. I made a cat house using cardboard box and T-shirt and a cat tent house with metal dowels and blanket. The two cat houses are made using different methods and materials. These two are the most simple and easy methods to make cat houses within no time. It can be structured by anyone.
CAT HOUSE
Materials used
1. Cardboard box
2. Old T-shirt (preferably XL size)
3. Scissors
4. Decorative sheet/Crepe paper
5. Ruler
6. Pencil/Pen
7. A cover/furry towel
8. Glue
9. 4-5 Safety pins
Step 1
Take a rectangular sized cardboard box, using scissors cut all four cardboard flaps from one side which will leave you with three walls, one side entirely closed serving as background, a base and one side entirely open.
Step 2
Using ruler, scissor and pencil cut the right portion from the chart paper to fit inside the box acting as background, making the inside look comfortable and homely.
Step 3
Now with the inside done. Cover the entire box with a T-shirt (preferably use XL size) covering outside. The neck portion will become the doorway for the kittens and rest will cover up the entire cardboard box.
Step 4
Use safety pins to pin any excess portion of the T-shirt so as to give tidy appearance to your work or else remove the excess portions like sleeves using scissors.
If your cats like to play in it, cut holes where the sleeves are and put them on the inside or you can stitch the sleeves and make them as pocket for toys.
Step 5
At last, put in a soft blanket which will make them feel warm and comfortable while resting inside and they will never leave their place of nirvana.
CAT TENT
Materials used
1. Small portion of rope
2. Metal or wooden dowel (3-5 pieces)
3. A big blanket
4. 4-5 Safety pins
Step 1
Lay down a pair of dowel side-by-side. Then, put a single dowel over the pair which should form an ‘X-shape’. Tie them up by tying an 8-knot, this will get you a fixed X-shaped structure.
Step 2
Stand the dowel structure up. Spread them out evenly which will make a ‘tri-pod’ like structure. You can also add two more dowels, tie them and spread them out evenly. This will make five dowels tied together.
Step 3
Tie the dowels once more, tightly to make the structure rigid so that it does not fall like a house of cards when kittens are inside.
Step 4
Now, take the blanket and wrap it around the dowel structure, also tuck in a few portion of the blanket inside the dowel structure. So, that the kittens get a warm and comfortable floor to sleep on.
Step 5
Using safety pins, pin the blanket tightly together at the top. This will secure the blanket from fall whenever kittens enter or exit their tent. This is the easiest one to build and you will go happy-crazy when your kittens will sit inside peeking out from their tent.
Hurrayyy!!!! You are done now. Add some kittens and watch them sleep all day long in peace inside the tent house or go gala over their little houses all day long.
It is up to you and your kittens to decide the size and shape of the house.
Happy Tenting & Flexing!!!!
