Looking for new ways of improving your home and making it more practical and better equipped to suit your needs? How about building a bookshelf or two and adding more storage to the rooms that need it? The whole point of a DIY shelf is to design it exactly the way you want it so let’s have a look at a few options which might inspire you.
This is more than just a simple DIY bookshelf. It’s a compact and very practical accent table made out of cable reel. It’s the perfect accessory for a cozy reading nook and it even rotates so you can easily grab the book you’re looking for. You can install casters on the bottom so you can also easily move it around.
Materials needed-Cable reel, wooden sticks, glue, paint.
Follow these steps to create the bookshelf-
Take any wooden industrial cable reel and 10 round wooden sticks that have been cut equal to the height of the cable reel. Paint these reels and the sticks with the color of your choice. Now, mark 10 evenly spaced points around the top. These are the locations where your support poles will go. Drill a hole through the top and put the stick through it and mark around the base of the stick on the bottom of the reel and drill a hole there too, just don’t drill all the way through. Put wood glue in the hole and set the base of the stick in it. Repeat with the remaining sticks. Once it is dry, turn the table over, screw on a rotating base, and then put it back right side up.
Your bookshelf/table must be now ready for you to fill with plants, books or anything else you want to show off.
